On December 11, 2022, a major snowstorm swept across southern England and the Midlands, with some areas recording accumulations of more than 20 cm (8 inches). The event formed part of a wider cold wave that gripped the UK and Ireland between December 8 and 18.

Snowstorm (1981)
On December 11, 1981, a widespread snowstorm blanketed southern and eastern England, with accumulations reaching 20 cm of dry, powdery snow across much of the region and up to 35 cm in Clacton. The snow cover lasted for ten days, remaining even in areas as far south as Plymouth.

Severe Cyclone Vardah made landfall near Chennai, India, on December 11, 2016. Packing winds of 140 km/h, it uprooted trees, toppled power lines, and left millions without electricity. It became the most intense cyclone to hit the Tamil Nadu coast in two decades.
