    Scotland – Severe Snowstorm (1888)

    On January 3, 1888, a heavy snowstorm hit eastern Scotland, dumping over 30 cm of snow on Edinburgh in just 24 hours. The storm caused major disruptions to rail service and communication lines, and weather diaries of the time described it as one of the most intense early‑January snowfalls of the century.

    Storm Henk (2024)

    A fierce storm swept across southern and central England and Wales, bringing powerful winds—up to 94 mph on the Isle of Wight and 81 mph at Exeter Airport—and heavy rain. It caused widespread flooding, knocked out power to around 38,000 homes, and created major travel disruptions, with hundreds of flood warnings issued across the UK. Sadly, a man in Gloucestershire died when a tree fell onto his car.
